Harbour Lights is a magical lantern procession to mark and celebrate Winter time in Newhaven. It is an annual community event which we have fundraised and produced since 2023.

The procession snakes along the harbour wall, following  the estuary and ends at the Marina. Artist Patrick Bullock leads Lantern making workshops for the procession. This year, 2024, he is creating a giant cormorant which will be animated  and be seen to chase the fish lanterns as we walk along the harbourside. Local musicians Nick Pynn and Kate Daisy Grant co created, together with the community a folk song, which is now our signature tune.There is  rhythmic Drumming to accompany the song, which participants can learn  in a workshop on the day of the event, bringing together this magical event. 
 

The event is open to all, with a focus on children, young people and families . Everyone has the opportunity to participate in whatever capacity they are able.
